Reviewing Concepts
I realised that I hadn't posted some conceptual work I produced for a company, way back in early summer. I guess it didn't seem right to until I heard either way if it was going to be used! As it happens, the company sent a few follow up emails and then I didn't hear from them again.
However I really enjoy this mini project, to produce an Easter range for a childs party set, including cake decorations and table attire. It was a conceptual project and therefore the images are fairly rushed, and just needed to convey an idea. I truly love work like this, and hell I may even make it all anyway, some day!
Click for details, the pictures are much nicer close up!
The company also produced Cake Boxes for an individual cupcake. These were my concepts.
I think I'm going to set myself a few more conceptual projects over 2012, and hope to pick up some conceptual commissions to boot! I sometimes feel that I'm much stronger in conceptualising than producing an illustration, but only time will tell!
I'd really like to hear your thoughts on these pieces, sorry I kept them in the dark for so long! x

Hello again!
Wow, was it really August that I last posted? Time flies and so much has been going on. I guess it's time for a bit of an update! Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who voted for my work "The Three Little Pigs" on the Uncovered Art blog, I'm very happy to announce that I was 2nd, and am now the proud owner of The Show & Tell Illustration book. So THANK YOU!!
As a 'life' update, my boyfriend finally got a job nearby and now we live together, we our big silly chocolate labrador. And so face now has a constant smile smeared right across it (even when he leaves his towels all over the bathroom), but he's really encouraging me to produce more, and make 2012 a very prosperous year for my work, we hope!
Talking of work, I've been doing dribs and drabs over the last Autumn season. Moving my boyfriend in seems to have eaten most of my time, so much paperwork and bits to organise!
I took a commission for a Wedding, which came totally out of the blue. The client had my details for an exhibition which I unfortunately had to pull out of due to a death in the family, but she called me a few weeks later asking me to illustrate an 'Owl and the Pussycat' themed wedding invitation. I would have been reluctant if it hadnt been to do with a children's book!
It was to be used as a working postcard, I have taken the details off but you get the idea. They were having the wedding service in a Castle, and then a big festival style party the next day, with tipi's and fire pits, sounds wonderful!

I've also got some very exciting news coming up in the next few weeks (although I fear it'll roll into 2012 with Christmas just around the corner)... and its publishing related! Watch this space.
Thanks for checking back, come again soon! x

My work has been featured!
Today I had a lovely email to say my work has been featured in a competition!
I've never had anything like this before, so I'd really appreciate every single vote :)
The work was from my final year of Uni and Im not overly impressed with it, but its so nice to be recognised for good work.
Every vote counts, please support me here!
My piece is 3 little pigs, and just requires you to comment or like it. You can even log in through facebook.
Thanks everyone

Big Beautiful Blanket
I've been knitting up old scraps of wool that I've found over the years, having an odd ball left over from my Mum knitting me jumpers and socks. It's been put to use in this beautiful blanket that my Mum and I have made for my lovely new home!

A few bits of work
With moving home I've been lacking in time and inspiration, but I have now got my own studio and it's been great going through all my art bits which have been in boxes over the years. It made me produce all of these lovely things, which are all for sale on my Etsy!
Update times!
Sorrrrrry. I've been away for far far far too long.
Since February I have been fighting the on going battle of finding, renovating and moving into my own little bungalow in the same village as my parents. But huzzah! I have a new home! I'm not quite moved in yet, but the new bathroom is nearly complete, and I even have an art studio and huuuuge garden.
So as you can understand, there really hasnt been much time for artworks. RUBBISH. But I did do a few design pieces (albeit not my finest ...) for a local festival. More updates in the next few days!

Back to Basics
I've decided to have a tidy up and replenish my Etsy shop with bits and pieces. You'll recognise some things from everywhere really :) Some stuff I'm not so proud of is on sale, and if it doesn't go its going to be painted over.
Check my Etsy, soon okay? xx

Newest Addition
Two weeks ago I was in my home town, Newton Abbot, which as everyone knows is not the most artistic or creative community in the world, and stumbled across this delightful little illustration below in the shop window on sale for £9.50. It's only A5, but its so very sweet,
I havent stopped thinking about the playful image and have even been dreaming about it and so today, I ventured back, and found it right in the very back corner of the shop! Yays! Isn't it a beaut?
Turns out, its by W. Heath Robinson, and it seems he's pretty famous. Still, I love it anyway.

Love Is In The Air
So I really haven't been blogging that much lately, I'm rubbish I know but I've been so busy with commissions I haven't had time to produce my own work. But I'd like to show you just a few little things I've been working on for my lovely boyfriend on our first anniversary together. It's still being creative, so I hope it counts!
He's an IT technician so he's got about a billion computers and laptops in his house, so I decided to knit him a laptop sleeve, and it's even been lined! It's got the 'Blue Sun' logo from Firefly, the TV series embroidered on the front, I've never really done anything like this before and I'm so proud of myself for persevering.
Next up is a tankard I had engraved. I had my good friends over at Pogofandango do a great job of engraving my custom design on a glass tankard for him. Really sorry about the poor photo quality though!
I know I know, it's probably the LEAST romantic song in the world (Nirvana: Drain You), but it means a lot to both of us and we've had some great memories of it the 6 years we've known each other. And even taken out of the songs context, this lyric is super cute.
This is a little older but I thought I'd post up anyway, its a photo of the plate we painted together just after Christmas. Extremely soppy, I know, but it's so so sweet. Now we just need to find a flat to hang it in. I think we did a pretty good job!
And for now, over and out xx

The 500 Festival
Here's the latest piece of work I've been producing, and if you're around I'd definitely recommend coming along to The 500 Festival! It was previously known as The Ilsington Festival, and it had such a great atmosphere with a mix of music and art. I'll be there on the Saturday, so please come along! Tickets are on sale NOW!

Heart Beat
This is last weeks 'image for myself' task, continuing my new years resolution. More of the kitchen theme I'm afraid, feeling very 1950's with my equipment now, but I'm not ashamed!

A Big Compliment
Today, I had an email sitting in my inbox from the Head of Illustration at Central St Martins, discussing how he found my work to be 'captivating' and asked to use it in a lecture about 'soft 3D media used in artwork'. He asked about using it in a promotional video for Summer programme about 3D Illustration too, which is all very exciting.
I can honestly say that I am thoroughly chuffed to bits. Below is one of the pieces that he's interested in.
At the moment I'm really very busy. I've been working on the RE:act Theatre Company's website, and doing a whole load of promo work for The 500 Festival, with more commissions in the pipeline. Its crazy busy. But busy is good.
